Aiding Ukraine: The Situation to Date & How You Can Help

Earlier this month, ANCOR hosted a special briefing, “Aiding Ukraine: The Situation to Date & How You Can Help,” where speakers from Keystone International and the European Association of Service Providers for People with Disabilities (EASPD) addressed what they know about the situation for refugees with disabilities and their families in Ukrainian border countries; what barriers exist for those seeking refuge; how support is being organized; how ANCOR member Keystone International/Keystone Moldova is responding to the humanitarian crisis; and how US disability professionals can help. We encourage you all to watch the recording below:

In addition to sharing the recording from the briefing, we’d like to highlight some of the ways you can get involved and show your support:

  • Join the Disability Services Supporting Ukraine Facebook page, where members are sharing resources & relevant information
  • Write to your local government to do all they can to end the war and to protect people with disabilities, using the European Disability Forum's model letter.
  • Support Keystone Moldova as they work on the ground providing Ukrainians with food, shelter, and other supplies at shelters & border crossing customs sites.
  • Finally, should you feel obliged to support financially, EASPD has carefully identified a Ukrainian organization—the National Assembly of Persons with Disabilities in Ukraine—who are actively supporting those with disabilities and their families and have the capacity to act locally through their members. Read EASPD’s informational sheet for further information on how you can contribute to Ukraine and bordering countries.
