What Remains Constant

Having spent more than three decades of my career at CIL, one thing has remained constant: change.

CIL is a very different organization today than when I started. Back then, most of our work was in Connecticut, and we had fewer than 20 homes in Massachusetts (now we have more than 300!). Over the years, I’ve watched CIL take on new challenges, expand into new states, build new partnerships, and adapt to uncertain conditions. Through it all, I’ve learned that organizations must continue to evolve to remain relevant.

Change can be exciting, but it can also be unsettling. In moments of transition, I’ve often found that looking to what remains constant provides a sense of stability and helps keep us grounded.

CIL is clearly in a period of transition, with changes in leadership, new geographies, and shifting market conditions. Yet through all of this, our purpose remains unchanged: to develop and support opportunities for people with disabilities to live independently and fully participate in their communities.

The commitment to our mission that inspired CIL’s founding and fueled more than 45 years of developing homes is still at the heart of what motivates us today. I have no doubt that it will continue to guide us for many years to come, even as we embrace the changes and transitions that lie ahead. While there is plenty ahead of us that we can’t predict, we know what we’re here to do!

Until Next Time,

*Speaking of things changing – that’s not a typo, my last name had a color change! I’m happy to report that all the paperwork is official, and you can reach me at [email protected] going forward!
