Capital Workforce Partners (CWP) —Connecticut’s regional workforce development board—aims to help individuals overcome barriers to employment and close the gap between skills and business hiring needs. CIL’s Senior Real Estate Development Advisor Sheldon Bustow was nominated to chair an Ad Hoc study group for the board that will evaluate options to provide training/employment supports to a wide range of disabled populations within the State of Connecticut. Shel has been a Board member for CWP for 12 years and has been Chair for four.

The group plans to explore existing programs around the country to expand and apply new approaches to the already existing CWP program for the Hartford region. Programs such as specific employer-based training and recruitment programs, individual training/orientation programs and job search supports, as well as social enterprise approaches, are all areas the group plans to assess to help meet these goals.

We know so many people in our network have developed great programs, and we’d love to hear about them! If you have descriptions, links, or anything you feel could be helpful – please share! Shel can be reached at [email protected].

Congratulations to CWP and to Shel, for taking on this opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives.
